Should you choose round cut diamonds for your engagement ring?

Choosing engagement ring is for many people a very demanding task though once you got the hang of it you'll see that this is only a question of few simple choices, one of which is choosing the shape for your engagement diamond ring.

If you don't want anything extraordinary and fancy a nice classical look you will likely choose the most popular diamond shape of them all – the round brilliant cut. It is estimated that around three quarters of all purchased diamonds are round cut diamonds, though recently some other shapes are also gaining on popularity like for instance princess cut diamonds.

Round brilliant cut is the most popular because it gives the maximum amount of shine though princess cut diamonds are also cut with many sparkling facets, therefore also providing more than fair share of shine.

Round diamonds also have a tradition on their side because they have been around for a very long time. This together with the fact that their formation of the facets of the diamond has the maximum amount of fire and brilliance of any other diamond shape or cut should give this diamond cut a prominent position for many years to come.

Other known diamond cuts include Emerald cut diamond, Cushion cut diamond, Asscher cut diamond, heart cut diamond, etc.
